Default fuel pump location?

I have a '09 A3 hatchback with the 2.0T and once and a while just after start up I hear a definitive clicking sound like an electric fuel pump working in the rear of the car. Nothing wrong with performance etc but this sounds like an externally mounted fuel pump. When the ignition is first turned on I never hear the clicking noise but as soon as I start driving I hear it and then it goes away. Touching the brake pedal does not affect the sound nor is there anything rolling around in the trunk area. The wheels are tight and the octopus caps are not loose. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I have 40k on the car and zero problems.

Thanks
