Default Recently bought A3 1.8T (2003), problem with CD player

So I bought the car, everything is great but I cannot figure out the CD player.

It can't read DVDs , only CDs but I can't read .mp3s apparently. I tried .wmv, .aac but they didn't work. .WMV is pure suicide since the files would be huge and on a CD that holds 700MB..

With the .mp3 files it plays the CD, but no sound comes out. With the .wmv and .aac it gives me a CD Error

I tried some audio books laying around that have ".cda" files in them and they work fine on the CD player.

Any ideas on the supported file formats in that Audi Concert?

I can't find where to edit my post but here
"WMV is pure suicide since the files would be huge and on a CD that holds 700MB.."

I meant .WAV - the uncompressed format

Sounds like you have a player that will only read the standard CD format--no mp3 CDs or any format that has individual PC files on it.

Is your CD in the headunit or is it separate? And what is your headunit?

The Concert II will only play standard CDs. What year is your A3?

2003--so not in U.S.?--well you could get something like one of the Dension units to get you either an AUX input or iPOD adapter.
