Took the new S3 for a test drive yesterday. What a blast! I was blown away by the power, the sound, really the whole package. Loved the drive options. Certainly made my 2009 A4 feel underwhelming.

Not sure about laying down the big bucks for a brand new one-may wait it out until I can find a demo.

I'm seriously thinking of getting this car and trading my 2013 S4 to get it. I need a new car to replace my aging GTI so this looks like the car. I need AWD and Stronic as I have three drivers in the house. If I was the only driver I would look at getting a manual which this car fails at in North America. Anyway....

Like you, I took a test drive and absolutely loved the car. I ordered a new one on 9/16 and I can't wait to get it. It is supposed to be at the dealership around Thanksgiving. I've waited a year for the car, so a couple more months won't matter.

I did go through a period of sticker shock but I am over that now.

I concur with the comment about sticker shock. It's very easy to spec out a $50K Prestige model. If you can do with 2 fewer seats and doors, check out the base Porsche Cayman - at $55K with a PDK. Different mission but for 5K more, it's SO much more car.

I test drove one day before yesterday. Love the interior, but exterior style is too tame and the overall exterior styling of the A3/S3 looks stubby somehow - not proportioned as well as the B5. It rides the same as my B6 (roomier) which was a bit of a surprise and the DSG shifts fast, but was just left lukewarm. 50K for a car that I'm pretty sure is slower than my B6? Meh. Hopefully they will build the TT sportback. For now, I'm sticking with my A4, but will need to figure it out within a year or so. Maybe the B9 S5 will do it. I drove the Boxster S too, and really liked it, but it too is way too slow for that kind of money. Maybe with another 100hp I'd do it. First time ever, I'm considering the Mustang as Audi isn't giving me the price/performance/style it has for my last 4 Audis. <sad face>. Somewhat tempted at the GTI, and then mod the heck out of it, or maybe the Golf R.
