Super or Super Plus

Super or Super Plus
I recently moved to Germany and as I'm sure many of you are aware the octane and fuel here is a little different than the states. It's pretty cool that Shell here has so many options:
My 2015 A3 2.0T Quattro (American spec) just arrived here!
Super is rated at 95, Super plus 98, and V-power 100. I have a fuel rations card that drastically reduces fuel costs so I don't pay what the average german pays for fuel. I plan on pumping Super plus 98 in my A3 for the next 3 years. Can there be any problems that occur from doing this, does anyone pump V-power 100 in your Audi on average?

I recently purchased a 2015 A3 2.0T Quattro (American) as well. When I spoke to my dealer about fuel he told me that all Audis can run on 87 and 89 (regular). Obviously you wouldn't want to put 87 in an R8, but an A3 can take 87, 89, OR premium and work just fine with no harm to the engine. You'll probably notice that it says premium only on your car, however 2015 A3's can drink regular fuel and still be happy. Audi no longer specifies fuel type for the 2016's because, like I said, the lower end models work fine with regular. That being said, you can still use premium (as Audi recommends) if you prefer. I'm sure your dealer could confirm this.

After posting my last I began to second guess the sales rep at my local dealership. After calling my service department I was told to only put Premiun into my A3. I would recommend checking with your local dealerships service dept.

Your A3's fuel cap and owners manual would say what the recommended fuel is it. I bet it is 95 RON (about 91 AKI for us here in North America). The EA888 motor in the VW MK7 GTI and Golf vehicles will accept 91 RON (or 87 AKI) fuels. However, it is known that use of a lower octane fuel increases fuel consumption. My MK6 GTI's fuel consumption increased when I use 87 AKI fuel.
I know you have a fuel subsidy so you can use 100 RON fuel to your hearts content with no negative effect in your engine's performance. The question is: Does your engine need it? As you already know, Octane rating does not mean the fuel has a higher energy content.
I suggest to just use the recommended RON for your vehicle and just buy it through one of the Top Tier gas stations.

Thanks for the feedback, I know it says Premium in owners manual but I don't remember seeing the AKI #. I'll take a look and go from there, I guess I can't go wrong going with the recommended fuel Lol.

RW, look at the fuel filler door on your car or listen to what Plat2765 has said.

definitely follow what's recomended on your fuel cap, and that number is the minimum rating. Pinging, or pre-ignition is very bad for your engine, which is what may happen when using too low a fuel octane rating, especially in the hot summer months.
