2009 A5 3.2 brake replacement
Hi all,
My brake lights recently came on for my 2009 A5 3.2 (S-line w/19" wheels if that matters). Took it to the dealer, and they quoted me at $700 for just the fronts, so I'm assuming it would have been around $1500 for all. I had called a few days before and they said pad light meant 30%, so I just wanted them to inspect before I went on a road trip - turns out pad light means 10%. Plus the guy was a dick, and filled out my paperwork to charge me the money without even asking if I wanted them replaced trying to force a sale, so **** them I'll take my business elsewhere. I want to get all new rotors and pads (front and rear), and I have no idea where to look. I've done some searches here, but I can't find anything useful - mostly performance upgrades and DIY stuff. I just want to know a good brake kit to buy (model # and everything) that will hopefully be less squeaky than the OEM. I'm ok spending a little extra for better/longer lasting brakes.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Alex

First what is the measurement(thickness) of the rotors, cause you might not need to replace them, also replacing the pads yourself are easy, the rotors are not much harder. The price for rotors and pads from rockauto.com shipped should be around $500 or less for all four rotors and pads(stoptech brand). Plenty of DIYs but for the rear pads you will need a VAG COM to release the pads, I used a replica one and it worked perfect for me. Save yourself $1200 and do it yourself then buy an exhaust or some other mods.
