I don't know if I would expect the 8-speed to shift faster than the DSG. For one thing, it is not the same 8-speed that is found in the Corvette. The Corvette uses a transmission designed in-house by GM, while the 2017 S4 will use the ubiquitous ZF 8-speed. GM specifically stated the PDK as the target for their transmission and while it does shift fast, some reviewers have remarked that it is not quite dual-clutch fast.

If the 8-speed Tip in the A6 3.0 I just had as a loaner is any indication, the DSG is much snappier.
