Default A5 Cabriolet roof latch rattle noise

Guys, while driving on bumpy or stony roads, quite loud rattle comes from the roof latch area by the windscreen. Noise comes also if I hit the area in the middle of the roof in front.

Either some latch bolts are loose or the ball joints to the locking arms have become loose.

Before I start detaching the panel and possibly breaking something, please advice. What should I know before starting or can it be something else?

Car is A5 Cabriolet 3.0 TDi Quattro, 2010.

Sorry, it seems no one knows the answer to your question, but neither of my S5 Cabs ('10 or '11) had this rattle so you should take it in for service. I don't think there are that many Cab owners in the forum.

Yeah, I've noticed some silence. I thought that in US Cabs are more common than in our cold Finland

No, actually convertibles now make up 1% of all vehicles sold in the US, and S5's are even more rare because they are so expensive. Coupes barely make the radar because everyone is "crossover crazy". :-)

Shame. Some cabs, like also A5, are fun and beautiful beasts. For SUV purposes I use my old power horse Ur-Allroad.

Got an RS5 Coupe rather tha the cab because:
Would lose the adaptive spoiler and voice function on the cab
Bears can get into your car via the soft top, the smell of food is enough

Other than that it would be fun to put the top down on nice days. But we already have two other cabs, a soft top and a hard top. Couldn't figure out why we needed three cabs. If Audi made a hard top cab we would own it. Some auto makers with hard top cabs: VW, BMW, Merc, Lexus, Mazda, Infiniti, Ferrari.

I already own a hard top cab (G37 Vert) and there is room for a Kleenex box when the top is down. No thanks. The A5/S5 don't lose much luggage space. I would take the soft top on the Audi any day. Also, our G37 has lots of squeaks and rattles with the hard top. Same with the BMW 3/4 Series. There is a reason the higher-end models like the BMW 6 Series, Maseratis and Bentleys have a soft top. Also, Mazda has dropped the hard top on the new MX-5.

HiJust wondering if you got to the bottom of the roof rattling on your A5 cab? I am experiencing the same issue with my A5 cab and was wondering if there is a quick fix?ThanksCiarán
