Default A5 Overall Reliability?

Can you guys give me some feedback on the overall reliability of the A5. Was looking at a BMW 335i, but geez, from what I hear they are NOT reliable. Would prefer to buy a car that's not certified just because Audi Certified limits my choices in my price goal of < $26,000.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I think reliability on used cars is more related to how the car was treated / maintained. If you get one cheap that was abused / not maintained, it will cost you. If you do what I did which is buy a 2 year old CPO car, then you know it was maintained properly and should be more reliable. So, I would look for a well maintained (CPO or not) car and go with that.

Agreed. Problem is knowing how it was "really" treated.

Mine's a 2012 A5 Prestige Cab. 39800 miles and $0 in repairs. Just brakes at 38K and tires a bit earlier. That's it. Super experience. My Honda Odyssey and Prius are way worse.

My 2000 A6 was the exact opposite - by 39K, it had approx $8K of warranty covered stuff taken care of. FWIW my learning on Audis - don't buy the first model year, make sure there's some sort of warranty because repairs are f*&*in expensive.

I am on my tenth Audi since 1980. First was a 5000T and now a '13 RS5. Wife has an '08 A4. All purchased new and most miles was on a 90 V8 that went to 140k. Service and parts are expensive (at least at dealer) but I never had significant repair issues on any of them. Normal maintenance, tires, brakes etc. Great cars and the RS5 is the best!

2013 A5 with about 41K. I performed all the required maintenance as scheduled.

ZERO problems.

I second the opinion to avoid brand new models. It takes the car companies and their suppliers a few years to iron out all the issues.

Had all 4 of my pistons & rings replaced under warranty. But I got to drive their Audi loaner so no complaints here
