Final Update: Received the new SIM in the mail and activated it. Smooth process. Nothing really changed obviously, other than having an official AT&T subscription now. I wanna say, though, that the connection seems more stable. With the previous modem and AT&T SIM the connection frequently dropped for a few seconds. It always recovered, so it wasn't really an issue, but I haven't seen this happening yet with the new modem. Perhaps they did update something, or maybe it's just a matter of time.

Thank you ITNETWIZ.
I took the sim card out of my existing tablet and got a sim card adapter off of Amazon and followed your instructions and everything is up and running.
I really appreciate the help.

II have a "locked" 2015 allroad that was confirmed to be only TMO capable through Audi Connect service number. I got a SIM from ATT and called them, activated it using the IMEI from an old tablet I had. Popped it into the SIM slot in the console and full 3G service now. Worked like a champ. Thank you!

I’ve been dealing with this with AT&T too. I have a SIM card registered to the IMEI # of an unused tablet in my 2015 S5 and it works perfectly. Our T Mobil subscription on our 2015 Q7 ran out August 1 and I went to AT&T to get a SIM card for it and do the same thing. AT&Ts connected car program includes AUDI but only on cars that came with an AT&T SIM card. The only way to get one is to buy a tablet or have the IMEI # of a tablet or device that you are not using. My cars IMEI # wouldn’t work. I called Audi Connect though and was told that on a 2015 the dealership can do an update ( I assume giving the car a new AT&T compatible IMEI # ) and give me a SIM card that could be activated and billed through my AT&T shared data plan. I have not gotten a price from my dealer yet for the update however. A data sharing device is only $10.00 per month on my AT&T plan so it will be worth a few $ to get the update. My preferred service adviser is on vacation so I am waiting till she returns to ask for the update. I’ll report back when done.

If your carrier allows it, you can view your APN settings in one of the following locations: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Cellular Network. Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options > Mobile Data Network
