Audi Germany (B9) A5 and S5 Configurator
All,
I just found out that the Audi German website's A5 and S5 coupe configurator is up and running. If you do not know how to read German, Google Translator or any language translator is a must.
Over at the Audi UK website, the old B8.5 Coupe is no longer available. I suspect that the B9 A5 and S5 Coupe configurator will be up and running soon.
The strange thing is that the B9 S4 Sedan and Avant configurator is still not available in the German website.

Only the Coupé is the B9, all other versions are still the B8.
There are some issues, as impsider noted the S Sport seats are not being listed, although the massage option is (which is only available on the S Sport seats). The standard S/line sport seats are only being shown in black leather, no Rock Grey option. No black optics option. But the rest of it seems to be there. But many will want to order with S Sport seats (which is probably the only version the US will get), so there seems to be little point in having the configurator up if one of the most popular options is unavailable.
It does indeed seem odd that they have put the B9 S5 up before the S4. Most likely supplier issues - the S4 Avant and to a lesser extent the sedan are much higher volume cars than the S5 Coupé, so if something is in limited supply, this may be holding back the S4. But they should just have delayed the S5 order process.
Still, these delays with the S4, the unusual decision to be selling different platform versions of the same model at the same time (as per the A5/S5), the fundamental delays in expanding their RS model lines as they said they were going to do 2 years ago, suggest that there is some turmoil behind the scenes.

I text chatted with customer service on the German site. I was told S4 configurator "is planned for next weeks"... I don't know if she meant next week or next few weeks........

It's like getting a quote for a remodel on your house. It's always 2 weeks, lol. In fact, I've been hearing that same line for the S4 availability for a few months now. "Expect order guides any time now..."

This Audi configurator website is in English. The B9 A5 and S5 Coupe configurator is live in this one: http://configurator.audi.com/acc/int...eng.view?msk=1
It has the S Sport Seats for the S5.

I would give Audi sometime to get their act together. They cannot even get the B9 S4 configurator up and running. Someone in Audi hasn't made up his or her mind on something that's keeping things up in the air.

Based on the price ratio of a well-equipped Premium Plus equivalent B9 S5 and A4 on the Audi DE site, I estimate that a well-equipped Premium Plus S5 (tech package + sport diff) will be roughly $61k in the US. This is approximately $2k more than the 2017 B8.5, which is right around what I would expect.
