Default Audi and Thermostats

For the 3rd time in four years, I've been left standing by the side of the freeway as my car overheats. Twice with my 2010 S4 and now this weekend with my 2012 S5. The culprit each time - thermostat. The only solution - time consuming flat-bed tow back to the dealer. Having a "Turn off engine" message chime in at 70 mph falls under the category of "easier said than done"!

How can a company that gets so many things right about their cars not be able to develop a reliable thermostat? Owned a lot of different brands in my 60 years, never had the same part fail three times...
