Clicking sound - Fuel Pump or Injector?
Hello,
I have a 2014 RS5 with 17k. I hear a clicking sound (about 10 clicks per second). The clicks increase with the rpms too. The clicks are not too loud and I do not hear them all the time. I have tried to locate the source by lifting the hood but didnt hear it (possibly the engine noise drowned out the clicks). I have hung my head between the two front seats to the back seats and I hear the clicks more clear.
I do not know what a fuel pump should sound like and I do not know what else the clicking sound could be in the back half of the car. Possibly a fuel pump or fuel injector? If it was an injector then I would think the clicking would be easily heard with the hood up but this is not the case.
thank you

I took the car into Audi. They said it was the fuel pump. There were actually 2 noises (whining and a sort of helicoptering as they described) and both led back to the fuel pump. The tech used a stethescope. They replaced the fuel pump but the helicoptering was still present. They compared to another rs5 and they heard the same helicoptering and then checked another rs5 and the same sound was present.
