In September when I ordered my A5 quattro cabrio, the Costco pricing wasn't set yet but they did refer me to a couple of LA dealers (Pasadena and Downtown). Though the dealers said they wold honor the Costco program, I found another dealer not participating who accepted my offer which was lower than Costco (typically 5% off sticker). The dealer also said that the Auto Club generally has better pricing than Costco, but that could be simply because he was not with Costco himself.

Hey All, theres a lot of talk about walmart on here, I was just curious about another big retailer, Costco, anyone work for them or have? What their setup like? Goods/Bad?

Costco pricing is not up front, you have to trust the dealer to show you the "costco price". I've heard mixed reviews. I'm not sure it's the best service for a low-volume car.

I used cars.overstock.com and amex carbuyer (same end service) which presented a 1k over invoice offer on an A5 with two local dealers.

Anyone use consumer reports or Washington Checkbook car buying service?

When I called Costco, they said that the Costco pricing only applies to cars already on the lot, though one dealer told me that he would honor the pricing on a special order. But that was back in September - perhaps the demand was not as high then.

If a Costco referred dealer is asking more than the sticker price, I think it's worth calling Costco back and reporting him.
