I'm planning a cross country road trip from San Francisco to DC mid/late October with my brand new 2014 A5 that came with summer tires.

I'm planning on hitting up the northern States to see national parks (Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, etc). Wyoming, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois... I was wondering if any of you have done that drive around that timeframe.

I'm contemplating changing my Summer tires to All Seasons for the drive because the weather might get bad... Or should I just wait.

Any thoughts?

Yellowstone in mid to late October could be difficult, even with winter tires. Here in ND, we have been known to get several inches of snow in October and Yellowstone is at a higher elevation. Are you sure you have "summer tires"? I thought that other than the RS-5 and S-5, other 5 series cars came with all-season tires. My first 5 series was a 2009 A-5 and it came with all season. Now have an RS-5 and keep two sets of tires/wheels for our 4 seasons.

I have the sports package with the 19 inch wheels, which came with summer tires. It's dumb.

But thanks for the info! I'll check as the date gets closer.. I may just skip Yellowstone all together if it's gonna be a bitch to get to during that time.
