The functions are limited compared to Vag-com but so is the price. I am new to Audi and don’t have a Vag-com. I may someday but it is hard to justify the cost. I am a tool hound. I have a garage and basement full of tools but I need a reason to buy. Caristaapp will satisfy my needs for now. Using my phone / tablet is a lot easier than a laptop. Cars are getting smarter so Caristaap has a growing market.

The next features that I would like to see is the ability to retract the emergency brake and activating the hidden green menu.

I have a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 adapter that works with this app. It can read the data (slowly) but I am concerned about this adapter writing the data. I just purchased the official adapter. Check out the reviews on Amazon. If you don’t have an adapter yet it’s a useful tool for reading error codes on all cars. Also can be used for real time date using an app called Torque

Can someone tell me what coming home and leaving home lights are?

Here are the things that Caristaap lists it can do.

The hidden menu activation is already available in the app! Looks like your list is missing quite a few options... must be due to the generic adapter you're using. Please post your list again when you receive your Carista adapter

About retracting the parking brake: that's also pretty much done - we currently have it in the beta version of the app and it works. Feel free to get the beta and try it: Beta-Testing | Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization (if you're interested in trying it, please email us at support@caristaapp.com and we'll hook you up with a free test account, so you can try the EPB functionality without being charged).

Can you start/stop the car if you have the advanced key?

What's the hidden green menu?

Edit: I basically want the seats to warm up during the winter. I know it's not good to have your car started for a long time at idle so I haven't installed a remote start. Anyway for this to happen at all?

Hrm.. I have the beta, and I'm not seeing the parking brake option. I picked up my ELM device from Amazon back in the day when Carista was new.. is there now an appreciable difference between us early adopters and the hardware you sell?

I just got my Carista and need to download the app. Hopefully this is stupid friendly since I have never used any diagnostic tool.

The only way is to have a remote start installed. There is no coding that can do it.

If you mean repair failed components, no. None of the OBD2 tools on the market can fix bad hardware. If you are talking about replacing a bad module with a new one that requires coding, Carista cannot get "under the hood" to do any coding - only VCDS Vag-Com can provide that level of functionality.

That's what I thought. Thanks.
