Front plate, do do, or not? B
Anyone not put a front p,ate on their RS5, despite what your state's law? I will register in VA, but the thought of ruining the look bothers me. Just wondering if others chose not to obey the law?

Same issue here in Maryland. Just purchased a 2014 RS5 and I'm not planning on installing a front plate. In fact my wife and I have owned cars in Maryland for 2 years and we haven't had any problems. We have a family member here who has had several exotic cars that he won't install front plates on. Apparently it's a $75 fine if you're pulled over. He pays it and moves on.

Here's an idea I did in California and Utah. Lots of places online will make a European plate with the correct number. Look great and technically not legal because it's the wrong size, but it has the right number and just might pass.

You should also determine what the penalty is in your state. Moving violation or otherwise?
I think it's fair to say we hate the appearance of the front plate, but you've got to give some consideration to the penalties.

I have moved my plate away from the grille, but in a way that most people probably won't like. It's a plate device that attaches where the tow hook is located. Off to the right passenger side, below the headlight. It looks awkward to the side, but it leaves the grille nice and clear and very legal.
I don't want to give the police any visible reason to stop me, therefore I haven't even tinted my windows. That is a very good reason to get pulled over here.
This S5, being a high profile car and somewhat modified, stands out in this area a whole lot more than when driving my Silverado.

I went without plates in CA in the early 80s with my 78' 280Z because of the very reasons you stated - the look. I got lucky and never got a ticket - but the cars now don't have the same profile and having a plated does not look as bad - and also as stated above I don't want to give someone a reason to pull me over - especially now if I am out of state and having colorado plates (seems with the dope issue here in CO it is verified that they pull cars over with CO plates when in neighboring states and they find a lot of dope that way)

I have a 2013 RS5 with no front plate...nor on my 2012 S5, my 2009 A5, my 2005 A6, my 1999 A6 etc. Have not been stopped with any of the 5 series and I think it is because the running lights are a distraction. When I travel out of state I put the front plate in the trunk with a couple of zip ties so could put on the front temporarily if I had to.

I oredered the 2014 S4 and 2015 RS5 with a front plate holder. Not having a front plate in Colorado is an excuse to be pulled over.
I do not have a front plate on my 458 Spider, or previously 360 Spider or F355 GTS. Never had any problems. But they are Fcars.
