Default Goodbye S5!

First, let me say that I have been a huge S5 fan since the car was introduced. I owned an '09 A5 S-Line, a '10 S5 Cab, and '11 S5 Cab and a '15 S5 Coupe. It was just time for a change. I needed something more practical, comfortable and updated without sacrificing too much performance. I traded today for a '17 A4. Before I get the flames, the S5 is hands-down the most beautiful car on the road, and it is an absolute blast to drive. However, after years of looking at the same interior (albeit impeccably designed) I needed a change.

I will also disclose that I was totally bored with the exterior style of the '17 A when it was introduced and wasn't sure I liked the vertical layout of the dash/console. However, after one test drive I was sold. The interior is beautiful (Nougat/Ash Wood) with unbelievable lighting and the exterior is growing on me. I'm an audiophile and the B&O 3D system in the A4 is amazing. Will I miss my S5? Sure. Is it still one of the most beautiful cars on the road? Yes. (I patted her on the dash and said "goodbye beautiful as I turned into to dealership.) I guess I'm getting old, but I wanted something quieter and smoother with all the bells and whistles and a bit more utility. The A4 really does do everything well.

So, goodbye, my fellow S5 owners. They are fantastic cars and we are all lucky to have owned one at one point in our lives. And for anyone who is in the market for one, there is now a flawless Florett Silver/Black/Premium Plus/Technology/Sport Diff at Audi of Dallas!

Default You are still going to hangout here I hope...

Congrats on the new A4… funny how things change. More HP now in the B9 A4 than the 2001 S4 from the old days…

Best wishes

Eric

I'm guess I'm getting old. I was always willing to put up with the compromises that went with owning a beautiful, fast coupe. Now I just want something that is well-built, satisfies all of my daily needs and can get out of its own way. The exquisite interior and fantastic B&O system help take the pain away!

One could certainly say I traded down looking at price point and performance, but the new A4 is like a mini A6. I guess, like M-B with their CLS that now allows the C-Class to move upmarket, the same has happened to Audi with their A3 and A4. It just feels like much more car than the sticker would suggest. Especially from an interior finish and technology standpoint, the Q50, IS350 and 3/4 Series aren't even in the same league. C-Class, yes, but I'm just not a Mercedes fan.
