Default Help for using Sim card slot in A5

Hubby just brought home a CPO 2013 A5 Coupe yesterday. It has a sim card slot for Audi Connect. Car has the MMI Nav+ upgrade. Is it worth getting a sim car for? How limited will it be? I have a new Q7 and it still blows my mind what the MMI can do!

I dropped in to the dealer to get my Q7 detailed. Hubby strolled around the lot and came in drooling over this car. So we added it to our stable.

If you have devices that only connect to wifi and want to use them on road trips, it might be worth it. Otherwise much if not all of the info provided by Audi connect (weather, fuel prices, news) can be obtained on a smartphone. Another consideration is you probably will only get the 3G connectivity in urban areas. 2G is pretty common in the country. So streaming music or video could be a little frustrating on cross country road trips.

Thank you! I signed him up for a 30 day $25 Audi Connect plan to see if he wanted it. I also checked with ATT to add to family share plan. This car has to have a OBDII adapter to use ATT since it is only equipped to use T Mobile per Audi Connect.

Check out freedompop. I have had success using their free data plan in my 2013 A5 Cab.

FYI I tried an AT&T sim card that is registered as an iPad in my 2015 S5 and it works perfectly. I cannot register that sim with Audi Connect but all of the cars online features work. The main advantage for me is searching for navigation destinations with voice commands and having them load to the Nav. I like being able to view weather radar when traveling too without having to use my iPhone while driving. The sim card only costs me $10.00 per month on my family share plan.
