Default Oil Problems with 2012 A5 Cabrio

I have a 2012 A5 cabrio. I always take the car to an Audi dealership to take care of all maintenance issues. I had the 15k maintenance done at 21k. That included an oil change and a check for everything else. My car just hit 25k.

Now I am getting a warning light saying my oil is low. I went under the hood to look for the dipping stick.. (There was none! &#128517 so I figured out that I had to look on the screen. The oil check bar was empty. Is there something wrong with my car? How could I be empty on oil in 4k miles? What should I do? (I'm not a car person and don't know much about fixing them) 😓

These 4 cylinder engines consume oil. Get the dealer to top off for you or obtain an oil that meets VAG 502.00. Is that simple enough?

BTW, if your post suggests that you went from 5k miles to 21k miles without an oil change, that's not a good strategy

Default 😳

No I didn't go from 5k to 21k 😜 I went at 5k, 13k to 21. But the dealer is telling me I can go every 10k. If that's the case, then how come I am getting that low oil warning. Also what kind of oil do I need to get? 😅 I was going to get 5w40 synthetic oil, European blend.

What does it mean to meet VAG 502.00? 😅
Mobil 1 - European Car formula, advanced full synthetic motor oil, 0w40 or 5w40? Is that one ok? Also what does viscosity mean?

Amy, 502.00 is the spec that describes the oil used in your engine.

The most common, IMO, is Mobil 1 0W40.

As long as you see "502.00" on the bottle, you are good to go.

You can also purchase from the dealer's parts counter if you are more comfortable with that.

Walmart, NAPA, Advance Auto Parts and Autozone all sell the Mobil 1 product I mentioned above.

Put a quart of oil in it and check the level once a month to monitor the level. There is no dip stick. You'll be fine. I had a 2010 Audi A4 that consumed a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. My oil level would be at the bottom and after I put a quart of the recommended oil it would fill back up until I drove another 2,000 miles or so. Once you put the oil in it , the computer won't be able to read the new level for about a day or so. The next day check the level and you'll see your level back up
