Default protection activation issue

My 2008 A5 driver's seat was getting really shabby (175k) and I decided to replace it with a 2010 seat... All is good, but the seat position memory is non-functional VCDS says that the "protection activation" has been activated and I need Audi service codes to clear it... I tried the generic codes that VAG supplies, but no go...

As I said, the seat functions are all working with the exception of the memory

Does anyone know what I can do to get that functionality back?

I think this means you need to code the "new" seats to your ECU like you would if you replaced an Audi NAV or sound system component.
Not sure exactly how it's done, I've seen a few post on the subject recently.

A quick search on the forum should give you some hints.

Can you provide the exact fault code?

If it relates to component protection, a trip to the dealer is one of the few ways of getting this sorted.
