RS5 - Engine Shavings in Oil Canister
#11
So Audi signed off on a new engine however they did not find the cause of the initial issue. It has not been determined that the engine is falling apart due to the engine. No guarantee that changing the engine will not lead to the same issue.
History:
Initially I had some issues with this car's engine at 3000km but after many complaints and engine lights, Audi kept telling me nothing is wrong with the car. The problem got serious when, at one point last winter, the engine revved to 5000km on it's own for about 30 seconds. I was applying pressure to the gas but the car was at a standstill. I restarted the car and all was good. They blamed it on a software issue. I don't know if the problems are related but I've driven and owned numerous high performance sports cars and never had experienced anything like this. I was actually scared, didn't know if the car was going to take off on me. Even after the "fix" the engine never ran properly, and I continued to experience the same issues as I did from 3000km.
After these experiences I honestly don't feel confident in that car. I asked Audi to replace the car but they pretty much laughed it off and offered me nowhere near that value, it was quite insulting actually. The car will be ready shortly but I'm not sure how to proceed. Considering a few options. What do you guys think? Opinions? Questions?

Take the new engine and be done with it. The RS5 engine is complex and complicated and hand assembled in Hungary. There isn't a widespread issue of RS5 engines failing, but there are some. If your engine failed doesn't mean the next one will fail as well.
