Default I now have California Heritage plates that look...

… a bit better in the grill. Plus the red surround picks up on the wheel theme.

Privacy and Security. Did you hear the recent news - hackers can hack into your cars' computer.
It will be very dangerous if your plates get into the hands of a hacker.

Default I agree, but we drive around every day...

… and our plates are in plain view as is the VIN from the windshield. Are there folks on the site that cover over their VIN? We are all vulnerable, but I am unclear as to how exposure on this site increases the risk? Educate me please…

Eric

PS - Of course, I am the guy who lived on Cape Cod with his family for over 40 years and never locked his doors - didn't even have a key. I have been convinced to do otherwise in Los Angeles. What a shame though, as neighbors would leave a loaf of fresh bread, muffins, leave a book to read or walk our dogs during the day on The Cape when we were away.

Sorry but that's absurd. You don't access a car's computer via its license plate number.

And you drive around all day with your plates on your car, don't you??

The way I see it, It's about accountability. You do something dumb and post it or say something that offends the law and you've posted your calling card willingly for authorities to make you accountable. Everything you say or post can be used against you in a court of law. If you willingly provide information you don't have to make the law agency pursue arduous procedures to legally get warrant to prove you're the instigator of such unlawful behavior. Your posted plates just provided self-incrimination proof necessary. Proof they would otherwise have to request a complicated process to obtain warrant for proof. Hiding plates on posts has become a safeguard in case something is posted that offends the law without leaving a calling card that advertises culpability on issues that would otherwise need law agencies to spend time and resources tracking down absolute proof of the offender's actions. Innocent until proven guilty.
Nobody panic, that's just my opinion.

Default Thanks for the perspective...

… I hadn't considered the privacy angle from a law enforcement perspective.

I picked up my RS5 about a month ago. No way I was ruining the front with a plate. So far so good...worth the risk in my opinion!
