Default RS5 question

I bought an rs5. It has 12000 miles. When I start it it revs to 1500 rpm for a minute. Then Drops down to normal rpm. Is this supposed to happen. Did not happen n my s5 or s4

Thx

Default Normal cold start mode...

… our RS5 does it and our S5 and S4 do so as well but the exhaust note is more muted. It drops in about 20 seconds. I use that time to affix my seatbelt and take a peak in the mirrors. Then the oil pressure is up and away we go.

Enjoy your RS5

Eric

Not sure why you think your S5 and S4 didn't do this, or any of your previous cars for that matter, but every engine has higher cold start rpms to quickly build up oil pressure and get everything lubricated. You generally wanna wait for the rpm to settle at idle before driving off.

You're right, but the owner's manuals do say to drive off immediately after starting the engine.
