MMI locked up on the loaner car for a while (long)
Sequence of events:
MMI was fine on my drive home from work. I turned the car off, and MMI turned off as well, everythign was fine. My sister and a friend took a drive in it, came back and said they couldn't get the radio to work. I take a look, and notice the clock was stuck at 12:00AM, no sound was coming out at all, the track progress for the CD wasn't moving (no AMI) stuck at 1:23, switching radio stations wouldn't work, and it wouldn't shut off completely if you tried to turn it off. A friend and I went and drove it for a while, all the while MMI would remain inaudible/unplayable. You could switch between the modes, and change the fade, balance, etc levels, but it just wouldn't play anything out of the speakers. Clock still stuck at 12:00AM (the driver information screen's clock read the proper time the whole time, obvious lack of communication between the two).
We come back home, I turn the car off, but notice MMI stays on. I was outside the car and noticed the MMI screen wouldn't get off of the "Audi MMI whatever" intro screen when it boots up. I was standing outside the car, and had to run back into the car to pick up a call on my mobile because it was still connected via Bluetooth!!
I drive a bit more, come back, turn the ignition off, stand outside the car for a few minutes and notice the MMI screen had finally turned off. Knowing the battery was no longer at risk of running out of juice overnight, I go to bed, come back in the morning and everything's fine.
Guess that's what happens when your driving the 87th car off the assembly line... I hope those gremlins are all figured out by the time my own car comes in.
MMI manual was in German, btw...
(bad) pictures for your time
