My 2015 Premium has side assist because it has the technology package. The technology package is included in the Prestige models so yours should have it as well.

I know this will sound bad, but.....Is it turned on? If the switch is off it will obviously not work and it could appear that it is not installed. The switch is on the driver's side door near the mirror. When on it will have a small red indicator lit up.

Doesn't sound bad at all. The switch was turned off when I picked up my car and it took me a couple of days to notice it (I don't commute). Same with the seat memory that sometimes gets switched off when I clean the door panels.
