Car won't start unless I connect VAG-COM

No go for the battery update. Now the car beeps twice when I unlock the car.... had to use the VAG-COM twice tonight to get the car to start. Maybe this has something to do with the alarm system?

Does anyone else have any suggestions to rectify this issue I have or should I take it to Audi? Getting pretty bad that I have a laptop in my passenger seat to run the VAG-COM software to reset the computer before the car will start. One other interesting part is that when there is a connection issue - the miles to empty reads 80 miles. When the connection is good, it shows the correct miles to empty that were on the display before I shut the car off.
