How long to do brakes last on an A5?

Should last for over 36k miles. And yes, can replace
That's a very conservative wear limit and while I won't gainsay Audi's limit which was probably made for liability reasons, I will say that I have run Audi rotors for over 100,000 miles on my 02S6 with rather more than 1mm worn off. If you have a manual trans, it's likely your pads will last 50-60K miles.
The pads on my BMW 02M3 6MT lasted 66k miles before the warning light came on and the rotors were barely worn. I may replace the rotors at 120K
or not.
If your car is under some form of prepaid maintenance or even OEM warranty you might see if brake pads/rotors are covered. Audi DID cover the brake pads and rotors on our leased 2000 4.2A6Q sedan at 32,000 miles when the warning light came on but I understand that may no longer be the case.

Brakes not covered under warranty or pre paid maintenance, per my salesman. But when it happens, I will ask again or go to an independent I know in Burlingame.

Yep, I googled that prepaid maintenance deal.
FWIW, our 15A5 has over 20K miles on it and the pads are much less than half worn. With a 2mm wear limit I suspect the pads will go to 50K unless that worn pads wear faster than new pads.
I guess Audi learned their lesson on the 2000 4.2A5Q! That thing just ATE brakes.
