only 317 torque in the rs5?
my old b7 s4 had 302 torque... im sure that the rs5 sounds sick and rips on the highway but it seems so nerfed next to even an s6(406lb ft) with the turbos. huge bump in torque when you compare the rs7 and rs5. 317 vs 516 (+200 lol) and the rs7 can be chipped for more than 620 torque. that is almost like having two rs5 engines.................
sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeit even a chipped s3 would poop on an rs5.

Have you actually driven one? Because you are completely missing the point that the RS5 engine is a high-revving naturally aspirated V8 with an 8500 rpm redline. Completely different engine philosophy. This is the stuff you find in Formula 1 cars, Ferraris, 911 GT3 (9000 rpm redline) etc. These engines are about power in the upper rev band and they have the gearing to be driven there all day long, but if you don't like ripping around with a screaming engine, then a forced induction low end torque engine is what you should stick to.

We have both and RS5 and an S4/S5...
… They are different beasts. Torque is not independent of horsepower. Diesels have tremendous torque, but will win no acceleration contests against similar displacement gas engines.
We are passionate canyon carvers and on the weekends my wife brings the S4 and I bring the RS5 (I had two S5's previously). We swap back and forth throughout the day of 100-200 miles of twisties. No question, the S4 has superior low end grunt and really drives out of tight hairpin corners with authority. However, when the RS5 gets it breath, it slings itself from corner to corner. It took me a bit of getting used to with the high revs (4500-7000), but it is so rewarding. Here are two shots from the Snake at Mulholland…

Your RS5 in Daytona Gray with the blacked-out and red rims is pure sex every time I see it.

i drove the rs4 and I know how that engine can make the car feel like a superstar. even though the car is pretty freaking fat...
i feel like they should just slightly tune that engine by like 30hp and put it in the s4 and s5...
then get the turbo v8 in the rs5

the V8TT is a bigger and heavier engine. It doesn't fit in the RS5's engine bay nor would it be a good fit for the character of the car plus it would make the car even more nose heavy.
