Default RS5 Exhaust off with my AWE Extreme on with Capristo

Just got my 2014 Audi RS5 cabriolet 2 weeks ago and love it. Car was modded out but the AWE Exhaust drones terribly on the highway and I can't deal with it on any ride over 30 minutes. That being said all the reading I've done pushes me towards the Capristo system. Just want to be sure there is no drone or loud exhaust while cruising on the highway between 60-80 in drive. AWE sounds great everywhere else but gets an F on the cruising mode. Would love some input as I want to be sure Capristo is the answer.

Hey Shredder, did you get an answer to this offline? Am a proud new owner of a '15 RS5 cabrio and have heard same of the AWE exhaust (though they have a touring system which is apparently intended for cabrios - somehow takes care fo the drone). Am interested in what you have learned.

thanks

Default AWE Touring Drone

Yes, I finally got my answer this morning with an email from another Forum member. He stated that yes there is drone at low RPM's and he used music to try to hide it. He did mention that with his driving habits it's only about 10% of the time but my opinion is how could anyone put a system on a $80k-$90k vehicle that gives off a noise while cruising on the highway. Maybe if I never went on the highway I would consider it but why wouldn don hat when there are other options with no drone. Seems like I will be pulling the trigger and going with the Capristo. Seems like only a valved exhaust will take care of no drone from my research. No idea how AWE doesn't have one. Poor design flaw on their systems.

Thanks for the note back. Would love to hear how it sounds when you're complete! Very interested in getting the best possible sound for the best possible price - One thing I think we all agree on is that the RS5, while a great performer, just doesn't sound it. It's way too soft and doesn't sound "special" in the way it should! Good luck.

Hi, Shredder.

For the record - it sounds like you have our Track Extreme system - which includes non-resonated downpipes - and is very, very rowdy.

When running a Track Extreme configuration, it's typically when the driver is not looking for a civil tone... rather just wants it cranked to 11 at all times. The Touring Edition, which includes resonated downpipes, or even the Track Edition with the stock downpipes sounds like it's more your gig. Have you considered swapping DPs?

Valves were not needed on the RS5 as the 180 Technology® works great on its own.

I apologize your first interaction with one of our configurations was not what you expected -- but I feel it would be different if the vehicle didn't come pre-quipped with the Track Extreme configuration.

If you have questions, feel free to use the methods listed below in my sig.

Default AWE response

Josh, while I appreciate your input you didn't read my quote from a member that has your Touring Edition. He said he still has a drone at low rpms between 2000-2700 which is the same problem I have with the extreme version. There is not one member on any of the forums that has said that the Touring Edition with AWE resonated downpipes say there is no drone or that the car is quiet in Comfort mode on the highway. I have been searching and asking this question for weeks now and all the replys are the Touring does quiet it down but there is still drone. Even if you watch your video of the Touring Edition there is a quick part of the car cruising on the highway and if you listen you can hear the drone. Obviously there is a reason why most of the exhausts made for this vehicle are valved. I do think your system sounds amazing WOT but for cruising it's unacceptable IMHO. For those that want to be in Dynamic mode all the time your exhaust rocks. But for me the times Im cruising I like to be able to not have my head explode from the constant drone. I'm not willing to even give it a try based on the feedback as I'd rather put my dollars towards one that has 100% feedback.
