Default Service Due Reset

I'm into day #4 of ownership of an A5 S Line. Day #2 was spent at a Dunn tire store getting a 2" long pen ink barrel (probably a salesman's at the dealership) out of my left rear tire! Having come from an '01 S4 that I truly loved, I'm just starting to warm up to the new purchase. One thing that I notice is that there's no way to reset the Service Due notice other than the specific Audi Vag. Since I live 50 miles from the dealer I have always done oil changes locally and thus would have to stare at a service indicater every time I start up if I chose to have service done elsewhere.

Has anyone figured this one out yet?

The car is a hoot and I'm surprised that I don't miss the raw turbo power I had in the S4. The car's fuel consumption is a real surprise as well.. 28 mpg overall so far. I have to confess that I don't view all of the electronics as huge progress, although I can get around the various functions handily now. Specifically simple actions like changing the radio station or adjusting the heater fan or changing the balance or fader on the radio or searching on a CD take 2 or 3 steps where 1 sufficed previously. I guess I'm just old-fashioned, but I think they should shoot the engineers..

No clue on the service message, sorry.

At first, I felt a little bit like you did with regards to the temperature controls. Having owned the car now for 5 months, I've grown to appreciate the simplicity of the design. Gone are the days of having to search all over the dash for the various temperature controls. All are at fingertips length from the shifter.

The music control interface is wonderful. Anyone who's driven a CTS without the nav package can appreciate the menu navigation.

You can reset service messages if you have your own VAG-COM (don't necessarily need the dealers).. other than that, I don't know of any other way to do it.

According to my dealer, a standard issue VAG won't work. So are you saying you've done it with a regular VAG? That's great news if yes..

I can't delete my old reply, so I'll respond to my own inquiry with what I found.. there is no owner reset for service intervals. Vag-Com cable and software required.

I can reset the oil change interval, but not the service due interval on mine. Are you saying you can reset service due?
