Default Two Options on Buying a New S5

I've been looking at buying a new S5 for a couple of months now. Finally decided to move forward and found myself faced with two options:

Option 1: $58,600 - New 2013 S5 Premium Plus Coupe
- 150 miles (test drives)
- Alcantara leather
- Adaptive Damping
- Nav
- 19" wheels
- B&O stereo
- Audi Advanced Key
- Carbon Inlays,

Option 2: $54,000 - Used 2013 S5 Prestige Coupe
- 2001 miles
- Fine Leather
- Adaptive Damping
- 19" wheels
- Carbon Inlays
- Driver Assist

The used 2013 Prestige is nearly loaded, and looks barely driven. It's approx $8K below MSRP on what is essentially a new S5. Main concern is whether or not I could still get Audicare on the used car or an extended warranty?

You can absolutley still get Audicare for the used one, the 5,000 mile service is on Audi and then Audicare takes care of 15k,25k,35k and 45k. You can purchase Audicare anytime before 45k miles but it might not make sense financially if your not getting all the services due to miles already on the car ( not in your case )

Pretty good pricing, I think.

+1 on the Prestige, especially if you share the drive.

I offered $53K and was turned down. They are firm on their $54 price.

Trying to make a decision here. Biggest concern is why would anyone turn in a brand new S5 after only 2K miles?

It could have been a demo car that they bought. Personally I would not buy an S5 without the sports diff. It really is a night and day difference. Make sure to drive one with the sports diff before you make a purchase.

Something to consider with the new one with 150 miles, that's test driven miles. Most likely high abuse (rev limit and hard braking). I would stay away from that one.

As far as the Prestige model, someone could've upgraded to a RS5 or S6. Perhaps the CA can provide some background. I would look into it to ensure that it was not a manufacturer buyback.

Agree with DavidRS4, the Sports Diff is the key item that defines the Audi performance vehicles. Unless all of your driving is interstate or very casual, look for one with this option. Expand your search radius if needed.

A little more information:

The Used (2001 miles) 2013 Prestige does not have the Sport Differential package. Additionally, the car is at a BMW dealership. According to the BMW salesperson, the person who traded it in really wanted a performance sedan and needed a useable back seat. They were apparently also repeat BMW customers.

The New Premium Coupe does have the Sport Differential as well as most of the packages that make up the Prestige (except for the Driver Assist). It only has about 100 miles on it, all test drives most likely, including about 25 miles from me.

Both dealers are firm on price.
