Oil changing questions
Hey guys,
Just got a 2014 S5. This is our first Audi. I was wondering how difficult was it to change the oil? I have heard that you need to buy a dip stick, since the car does not come with one. But I can't seem to find the dip stick tube that is capped off. Also do I really need to get a VAGCOM? I have also heard you need one to reset the computer after an oil change. And how much oil do these cars take? 7 quarts or 9? 9 seems a lot for a 6 cylinder motor.

1) It's a top-mounted filter, so you need to be careful of seepage/leakage when taking it out/off.
2) Technically, you're supposed to drain the oil pan via a pump or siphon from the top. However, there is a drain plug at the bottom.
3) You can use the electronic gauge in the MMI to tell if you have enough oil. The dipstick is a nicety because you don't have to wait for the car systems to become available and wait 2 min for the oil level sensor to report to the MMI. In any case, here is where the dipstick goes:
4) VAGCOM is used to reset SERVICE intervals, you can reset OIL CHANGE intervals through the MMI.
5) I used 7.5 quarts on my first oil change with filter change. YMMV.
