Default Oil 0w20

Just had my 20k mile service. Part number for the oil used is ZVP-000-520. It also states that its 0w20 grade.
Does anyone know whether this is the correct oil for the 2018 S4/S5? I believe its for a bulk container but want to know if meets the appropriate 508/509 spec.

If it was at an Audi dealer and they used 0W-20 (which from the part number it looks to be the 0W-20), I am sure it will be 508/509 spec since there is no other 0W-20 oil used by Audi for their models. Also by now I would think all the Audi dealers have gone through the learning curve with all of these new models using the 508/509 spec 0W-20 oil.

It looks like from this list the only 0w-20 oil is the one that meets the 508/509 standard.

It's not listed as 508 00 509 00 compliant on Audi's circular, but on Amazon, the photo of the container says it is compliant with both. And it's available on Amazon. I've read that the Castrol Edge Long Life IV listed in the Audi circular is only available from dealers or in the UK.

Default This might work?

The OEM SPECIFIC 0W20 LL FE can only be used with engines with the VW 508 00 / 509 00 specification and is not backward compatible.

In short:

  • The new VAG Group engines requiring the VW 508 00 / 509 00 specification, for which we developed the Champion OEM SPECIFIC 0W20 LL FE.
  • It maintains engine performance while delivering at least 4 % fuel economy.
  • The oil protects engines against wear and keeps them clean, while also keeping emission systems in shape.
  • Champion OEM SPECIFIC 0W20 can be ordered from the end of July 2016 onwards.

This is where I bought the genuine Castrol Edge Long Life IV — they stock it.

I also bought my oil for the 1000 mile oil change I did from here. They have a “kit” that included the filter and new drain plug/washer. No need to lecture that the oil change was not needed. I’m sure your right and the engineers at Audi certainly know more then I do. Having said that, I’m old school, I did no harm, and I got to see what the underside of the car looked like. And yes I know about using an oil extractor from above, but again I’m old school and didn’t have an extractor at the time.

And you have the lift in your garage. I would never chastise anyone for an early oil change — until this car I was always “every 2,000 miles / fresh oil & filter” and drag a magnet through the oil that came out to see what might be lurking. New engines got a 1,000 mile “drain and replace with synthetic” but I’ll wait for the 1 year service as it will only be about 4,500 miles.

What is the recommended oil change procedure for our B9 engines? Drain or extract? Where to buy an extractor?

From what other members have posted, dealers extract through the “dipstick tube” while people without an e tractor remove the engine pan shroud and drain it.

Extractors are sold on Amazon — but remember how much oil the S-Series holds in the oil pan — so buy one with a large enough tank to hold that much oil.
