01 AR Transmission Issue?
New to the site... I know this has been covered a thousand times, but didn't find any previous posts that described my situation.
2001 Audi Allroad 2.7t Auto w/tip
Miles: 165k
Had the car for about 4 weeks without any transmission issues and went to take off for work one day and the car started out fine and then about 500 feet later, shifted into 4th or 5th and all the gear indicator lights came on. Rather than force the car back home with what seemed like a slipping clutch in 4th gear, I got home in reverse instead (it is a quiet neighborhood street). Parked for a few weeks (got busy and have another car) and went back to start it back up and run it through the gears and it drove fine for about 1000 feet and went into limp mode again (4th or 5th gear) but no flashing gear indicator lights. Proceeded back home in reverse again.
The transmission was repalced by the previous owner at 135k at a cost of 5k (warranty was up a while ago), so hoping this is something easy??
Check engine light is on and I have not ran it for codes, or checked/changed transmission fluid. The car does have the leaky cam shaft/tensioner seals, which I knew about, but other than that no major issues.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

First thing for sure is to run it for codes. Then go from there. Second, see if you can get info on the type/model trans that was put in. While doing so, knock out a visual inspection underneath for obvious sign of leakage, etc. Let us know how it goes.
