2004 ar alignment specs

I have to make a point here too, as I think there are some who aren't giving some of
our top techies the proper respect here...we have several on here and you know who you are...Sam and QCRAZY and WANT (he has all the documentation you could ever WANT and RmQ and Rally_what_is_my_name_this_week who I want to take race car driving lessons from, and tire/wheel guy 'Ed...I know we have a bunch of new "faces" here but what I can say to many on this board who are new is that you need to do your homework and find out who has the voice of reason and who just has a voice....I'm sticking up for Sam and his bad day at the shop...maybe I had a bad day at the office too, but I think some of you need to read up and maybe more importantly listen up.
Let the flaming begin if you must but this really needed to be said...that and I'm still a little miffed that I say something above about the white ar's and it has to be confirmed by three others before anyone agrees that white was a special order color (or as Ex-Pz and I both said you can have any color that Audi has)...IT WAS NEVER A STOCK COLOR FOR THE AR IN NORTH AMERICA (if someone can come up with the brochure with that to contradict that good luck as we've all looked at each one of them). ENd of rant.

My alignment is at Level 1....more:
I have read on here and heeded the advice about always and only align at lvl 2. Then I went and spent 90% of my time on lvl1 on my previous Yoko's and they didn't last much longer than 6 months.
I went to Truline here in WA state (www.trulinebellevue.com) and Byron Tate, the shop owner, insisted that it is a misnomer, that the allroad CAN be aligned at lvl1. He adjusted it for the weight that I normally carry in the vehicle (my 170lb self, + 300 lbs of sales material in the boot) I said go right ahead, as that is the setting I prefer (I've done no 402 mod). He did the alignment on my new Khumos, keeping at 40lbs psi, and I went back at 4000 miles for his free check-up 2 wks ago: NO undo wear, no alignement issues,no indications on tire surface that there's any problems: Everything is GREAT so far at lvl1!

Exactly, the specs are forhow the car was designed to ride. The alignment
on level one was not designed for continuos use. It seems you have the answer in wether the alignment can bee adjusted enough fo L1 use. I have not used or recommended it, due to too much botoming in my area. Our roads are for sheiss. My original level 2 is now my L1 (reverse 402 mod)

I just had the balancing and alignment done and the tire shop
and they are having trouble getting it right (new Dunlop sport A2's installed 30 days ago). The steering wheel still shakes at 50-55 mph. The tire center is using the latest Hunter machine (it looks like a 10 ft tall giant with 2 huge arms). Should I be letting the dealer handle this? By the way, these tires are really noisy (michelin mxv4's were much quieter).

girlroad, I hope you didn't misinterpret my "bad day at the shop" comment.....
The comment was made tongue in cheek. I for one truly treasure the wealth of knowledge and experience here. Especially from people like Ex-PzKW Cdr (a fellow armor driver) who makes his living repairing vehicles and still finds the time to share his years of experience here with us for free. I have been visiting this forum almost daily for 3 years now (contributing when I can) and hope we can keep it civil and not let egos get in the way of an incredible sense of community.
