Default 2004 audi allroad, flooded passenger side floor boards. limp mode

the passenger side floor got about 2 inches of standing water. was trying to get home to vacuum/dry it out and car went into limp mode. got home and immedietly disconnected the battery and got to drying everything out. pulled the carpet and pulled the tcm out and brought inside. after a week put tcm back in and still in limp mode. wondering if I could reset it somehow, or if its fried and I would need a new one? herd I would need to get a vagcom, but would any odbII code reader work? thank you for your input. im at my wits end.

Default Audi TCM 101 learned the hard way

I have a 2002 Allroad and had a similar issue as it was in limp mode when I purchased it via ebay (yes long story). Unfortunately the TCM in mine was fried and needed to be replaced. I was able to source a used one with a 1 year warranty from a local salvage yard for around $300 which stung much less than the $1600 price that my local Audi Dealer was charging. There are also numerous places on the inter web and ebay Motors that sell rebuilt units.

Hopefully the TCM in your car is not one of the more obscure ones (Audi only used the one in my car for about 4-6 months of the 2002 production run making it a much bigger challenge to source a replacement) and unfortunately Audi used numerous different models of TCMs during the years that the C5 Allroad was produced The part is plug and play provided you get the exact same one (i.e.The Bosch Part number must match exactly including the letter at the end). Since I replaced mine I have had smooth sailing with no issues at all. Good luck and let us know if you have any additional questions.

get a vagcom scan and report back
usually when the pass side floor gets flooded the tcm bites it

also, put your location in, that helps us help you

On A6's and A4's the evaporator drain gets clogged up and floods the passenger floor, Pull the glove box out and pull back the carpet and you will see the drain goes through a rubber drain tube out of the car, clear that. Worst case, used TCU from wrecker Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market Still 5-600 bucks from a junkyard.
