Allroad starting issue
My 2002 used to start almost at the turn of the key. Now it does not start at the first attempt, I crank it for a couple of secs, pause, then on the second
try it starts. It is not like I have to crank it for a long time but it makes me think
that it may get worse. What could be the problem, fuel pressure, injectors leaking? What should I look at?

I had a similar issue with my 2001 Allroad. It turns out to be the check valve inside the fuel pump. I took apart the old pump after I replaced it with a VDO unit and found pieces of ceramics had disintegrated.

Hey there,
-Which engine code..
-Is it a diesel or petrol..
-Start with a scan for dtc's
-whats the condition of your battery...does it drag on the second crank attempt.. Check your voltage gauge

could be the fuel pump or relay
could be an aging battery
doubt its injectors
has the fuel filter been changed in recent memory?
get a vagcom scan done and report back
