I have a 2004 allroad with the tiptronic transmission. My inner axle boots were torn, so I just installed new axles. I noticed that I didnt have the axle shields, but it looks like there is 3 threaded holes above the inner axle mount where a shield could go (the heat/dust shields that are directly above the inner boots on the front axles are the ones i am referring too). I wouldnt mind having the shields to help divert some of the turbo heat away from the axles, even if they dont do that much. I called audi and I was told that the allroad only ever had axle shields on the 4.2, not the 2.7. Has anyone found shields that fit these mounting holes?

I went to a local pick a part and there is a 2000 a6 quattro with the 2.8 liter, auto (not sure if tip). It has the shields on it but im not sure if they'll fit. The part numbers the dealership gave me for this cars are; Left=4b0863187c, Right=4b0863188d.... Would these fit my allroad? If not, which shields should I be hunting down? Thanks for any info anyone has for me.

There is definitely shield, Audi merchant guys are false!
