Audi A4 TDI overheating going up hill 😕
Hi everyone,
I need some help. I have a 2002 (52 plate) 1.9tdi advant sport. It has always run at 70° but a few weeks ago, when going uphill, it was going up to 90°. Then up a major hill in Devon that may go to 110°. I spoke to a local independent audi specialist who said it should always run at 90° anyway. He said that as it is using a bit of water (around 500mls a week) it could be a head gasket.
I then spoke with my mechanic that l normally use, and he said he doubts it is a head gasket. So he changed the water pump and thermostat, along with belts and tensioners, and sent me on my way. The car now runs at 90° all the time, but now goes up to 110° and flashes up coolant. The heaters l have put on aircon and economy on the highest setting, and depends on how the car is being pushed, can run hot or quite cool. I have read through many forums, and they tell different stories.
Could it be a blocked radiator? Faulty sensor? Aircon problem?
I have noticed that when l stop after a journey, my fan seems to be running for around 30 seconds, this has never happened before!!
Any ideas on the best way forward?

hate to break it to ya but this is the "Audi allroad Discussion forum for the original Audi allroad", not the a4
in any case, it sounds normal to me
when im honkin up in the mountains, the temp gauge can creep up a tad over normal
so i wouldnt worry unless it goes higher
