I ended up having to go to the dealer and pay $95 to get the code!! Yikes. I recommend never letting your radio hit SAFE mode if you do not have your code!

My 2000 A6 Manual is Printed in German language. I don't understand German. How can I deactivate SAFE mode. plsss.

Boy, talk about reviving an old thread.
Like the last post from 7 years ago stated, you likely have to go to an Audi dealer. Nothing in the manual is going to provide the code - the code number was on a separate card included with the car's documentation packet.
