C5 allroad ECU ?
Good evening all,
I joined this site not long after I bought my Allroad last August and now I need to hopefully pick your brains for a solution to a long ongoing fault.
My car is a year 2000, 2.7 t, 1 previous owner, 75k with a full history and in top condition with £11k of factory extras, my dream car but 2 days after buying her the dreaded suspension warning light came up on the dash.
Took it to my local V.A.G specialist who plugged his laptop in and told me the suspension ECU was at fault, I bought a 2nd hand one, fitted it but the airbags inflated right up past the highest setting,it was like driving with jelly suspension, so I took it back to the specialist and he said he'd sort it out, while it was in his yard one of the airbags went bang, he had a pair of spares that had been swapped out for solid suspension so he fitted one of those but then he told me the compressor was knackered and one of the exhaust down pipes had been badged up and had rotted through on the flexible joint, £1100 later got the airbag replaced, new exhaust and new compressor, this was over the Xmas holiday so didn't need it plus I had an old runaround that I used for commuting to work, runaround failed it's MOT so now I needed the Allroad back, the specialist said he was having trouble getting the suspension ride height settings logged in to the system, I said don't worry for now, just get some air in it so I can use it for work and we'll sort it out later, I'd already booked in a full service and cambelt change with him so said do it all at the same time.
Got it back to him, he done the service, cambelt and the setting up parameters but on returning from the test drive another suspension airbag went bang, I didn't know I knew so many swear words, I bought 4 new bags and asked him to re-use the original shocks, he has completed all that but now he can't even log in to try and set the ride heights again.
The poor bloke is nearly suicidal, although I'm proper p-ssed off it's with the situation and not him, I went and had a chat with him today and I said just put a new suspension ECU on but he doesn't want to throw more money at it until he knows exactly what's wrong, he's got the most recent diagnostic kit you can get and thinks because it's an old system on my car he might be missing something, I told him to chill out, these things happen and he's been good enough to let me have his vehicle all the time he's had my car.
I've only come on here to try and help the bloke out, at the beginning he advised me to change the air suspension to solid but I wanted to keep it original and now wish I had listened to him, thanks very much

Thanks for your replies, just spoken with him tonight and he's found an allroad that has just had the same trouble as me, the owner replaced everything and then apparently had a crash so he's breaking the car, my bloke is going to get the suspension ECU and the valve body which the owner says are literally brand new, hmm.
I'm supposed to be getting her back next Wednesday so I'll update then, thanks again
