Default cigarette lighters don't work.

I have a 2000 All-Road Quattro in great shape but none of the cigarette lighters work. The red lights around the plugs work but when you push them in, NOTHING! I tried the lighters in my other car and they worked fine. Any ideas?

Thanks
Ron

It is most likely a fuse. Check the manual and it will tell you what fuse to check. I believe both the on in the dash and the one in the back seat console share the same fuse. The one in the rear cargo area is on a different one.

Most likely fuses, or short to ground
Steps:
-run VAG to confirm codes, diagnosis, and repair instructions

if fuses
-open drivers side door
-remove fuse box cover
-cover contains detail of fuse locations
-use a multi meter or fuse detector to confirm VAG codes before you replace fuse

Same happened to me and it was the fuse. And yes, they do share the same fuse. In my case, a peeny fell into the lighter in the front. I keep coins in the ashtray and one spilled into the hole while the lighter was out.

Same problem, I have no manual, and have been looking for the fuse with no luck. My question is where are the fuses for the cigerette lighter?

Open the driver's door and look at the side panel above the foot well.
