Considering a 2001 allroad
I've been shopping for an audi to use for the winter as I'm going to be doing a fair amount of highway driving through the mountains and think that the allroad would suit my use well. I've found a 2001 locally at a good price. It's an 01, 170k miles on it, had the timing belt service at 163k, air bags were replaced a few years back, no torque converter codes or oil leaks on it. The main issue it had was with the steering, that's what is holding me back. Turning to the left, everything felt normal but to the right felt like the power steering wasn't doing much. They think it's the pump and are including a replacement. I'm not sure it's that though. I can get the car for 3500, not sure if that's worth it or not.

Does not sound like a pump problem...sounds like a steering rack problem.
