got DTC code 16985...

Internal Control Module Memory
Check Sum Error
Any suggestions on what maybe causing this code?
Searching seems to reveal issue with APR chip/flash. ECU is stock, as far as I know. Purchased this leased return '05 6mt in January from auction so no real history outside of dealer repair/service records.
Anyway to tell easily? Will my local APR dealer be able to scan? Trying to figure out options since AR is still under factory warranty until end of October and if its a bad stock ecu, I'd like to get it resolved before I make any ecu upgrades.
