Gast temp EGT codes after cat delete down pipes installed
I just installed new down pipes that have no cats and I am getting P1454 & P1457 codes for Gas temp sensors for both sides. My cats were really bad and all o2 sensors as well so I replaced them all. Is it possible now that I replaced all o2 sensors and installed new down pipes its finally telling me my EGT sensors are bad? Or am I getting EGT codes because I have catless down pipes now and I need to have the car tuned?

I used O2 spacers on the downstream o2 sensors and left the upstream sensors normal. I have not done any tuning. I am getting codes P1454 & P1457 which are exhaust temp sensor 1 short to ground and exhaust temp sensor 2 open or short to plus in VCDS.

Sorry, I didn't check the codes in your first post. Those seem to lead to dead EGTs. You could try the re-solder trick, buy replacement boards, replace the entire units, or get them tuned out.
Not sure why they weren't coming up before. I assume you checked the connections.

yea its really strange, I thought maybe all the other exhaust codes were causing the EGT's not to work. I will have to google the re-solder tirck and replacement boards since I have no idea what either are. I was wondering if I could just solder a new sensor in line and replace the old ones.

So I did some searching and found the polish guy with boards, wonder if he still sells them. I found a few ECU's with egt bypass on them, wondering if I should go that route or not. I am guessing for a stock allroad they are probably fairly important. Could bad egt's and my car being in limp mode cause it to overheat? I live in the mtn's and the cars oil has been running hot causing the car to overheat when climbing passes.

Bypass the EGTs
I bought these bypass units from Adam. They worked a treat and now the car thinks the EGTs are just fine. $50 USD
