Default Working temperature

Okay, step two. Emptied a half bottle of CLR into the heater core, diluted it with a bit of water. Washed the motorcycle quickly, then flushed the heater core.

Hmmm...still clear? Weird. In goes the second half of the bottle of CLR. Waited 10 minutes. Flushed. Same (clear) result.

The point is, I was assuming that my core was gummed up because when it's cold outside (below -15C) I don't get heat at idle, only at ~2000RPM or above. So now I am waiting until it gets cold again to see if (miraculously) this procedure (with no noticeable result) has fixed it.

Finally, so this isn't a completely wasted thread, here is one of the links I referenced:

Is the car engin coolent comes to a working temperature in a reasonable time? Check the heater core pipe entry and exit if they are at the same temperature

With the plastic cover off, look a bit left of the oil dipstick. You need an extension with the allen driver on it.

Found it with your help, thank you. I loosened it too much and stripped it a tiny bit reinstalling it (working in the near dark at -30 will do that...) going to try and clear the threads this afternoon (still -30, but not as dark).

I had the same problem. Bleed the system with no results. Took it to a shop and they flushed it with CLR. That made it better, Giving me about 80% heat back. The shop told me I would have to replace the heater core in about a year. Hope that helps a little.

Reverse the lines going to the heater core. Move upper hose to lower and lower to upper. I don't know why it works, but it does.

My AR used to have no heat then would have ok heat after core flush. I reversed the lines and I get great heat, even at idle. I still have to flush the core every winter, but heat is great after that till next winter when next flush is needed.
