Default Not allroad related, but hoping someone knows the answer...

I am installing a K04 upgrade in a 1.8 MK4 Golf. I cannot seem to find the torque value for the four turbo studs which go to the downpipe.

Bentley shows the value for the downpipe NUTS (40 Nm), but not for the studs themselves. I suspect its near the 40 Nm called for the nuts, but am afraid to strip anything. Anybody know?

Should I use threadlock or anti-seize on these studs?

Thanks in advance for any info provided.

Regards,
Gavin

Default When I installed my turbos...

I just torqued them by hand. When the nut is torqued to the proper spec., it "pulls" everything together. There's no way the stud can back its way out.

I did't use a thread locker or anti-seize, I just figured the exhaust got too hot.

mostly just get them in there until they reach the bottom and tight them slightly with plyers
the torque is 28nm, the nut will take care of the actual torque
and yes always use antiseize in all exhaust hardware

Default Thanks Fellas!!! Appreciate the info! Got the new turbo in..

Waiting on the new exhaust manifold. Old one was cracked... Went with the Kinetic high flo as the OAM ones seem to have a tendancy to develop cracks when going beyond stock...

Once I get it will be mounting it to the head and dropping it all in. Timing belt broke, 12 bent valves (ouch) so the head is out. Turbo upgrade looked so easy with the head out, I coudln't pass it up.

Thanks again!

Regards,
Gavin
