Default Instrument LCD

Hello

I'm working on a cluster for a 2001 allroad, needing a new LCD display.

The original looks like this...

But I was given one of these which is claimed to be a replacement.

The ribbon assembly very much different.
Has anyone here ever used this particular style for
replacement successfully?
Just want to make sure before I take the time of installing it.

Thanks

I think you have the wrong replacement. My 2001 LCD replacement was identical to the original, including the ribbon.

If you have questions, email Paul from http://pixelfix.info and email him your pictures.

ONLY, ONLY, ONLY get the LCD on ebay that comes from Denmark and has blue ribbon. Any other LCD on the market is made in china these days and has horribly bright/low contrast display that will drive you crazy.

Default Pixelfix is the answer

I recently sent my cluster to Pixelfix. Fast service, reasonable cost, highly recommended.

Does the car run while the dash is out getting repaired?

I've never tried running without the cluster but if your ECU has immobilizer and fails to sync with the cluster, the engine will start and shutdown right away.
