The battery in our 2004 Allroad went bad. I followed the locator at our local auto parts store and it told me the Exide 49c would fit. I brought it home but it seems like it's about 1/4" too deep. I can't get it to drop all the way into the tray, it butts up against the firewall bar and the hard-plastic edge of dash, and against the rear bolt that holds the tray in. The old battery came out and in relatively smoothly. Anyone have any tips for squeezing this new battery in? Or is it just that the battery doesn't fit?

I had to remove the strut bar to get under the tray to clear the drain, so while I had it out the tray and battery went back in.....

It's not a 49, it's a 94.
