Running hot
2002 Allroad tiptronic: Coolant temp gets way higher than what I am used to. With AC on, it goes past 3/4 of the gauge.
Mechanical fan is running.
Electrical fan in front of AC condenser also spins (pretty slow, but running).
Never seen the second fan (on passenger side) run.
Should it?
Also: oil level/oil temp sensor error code 00562 (below), if that has an impact.
00562 - Sensor for Oil Level/Temperature (G266)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus

could be bad temp sensor.
also could be a bad radiator
i would start by using a laser thermometer and start taking temp readings around the motor. check the in and out of the rad for temp differential to rule out a bad rad.

Additional info: timing belt done not too long ago; assume that water pump and thermostat were changed (I always do, but I didn't do the timing belt job; previous owner).

Does it heat up on the highway or sitting in traffic?
CTS is the first and easiest to check. If you have access to VAG-COM you can check to see what it is telling the ECU the temp is. If not just replace it.
When was the TB service last done? Could be bad WP or thermostat. Clogged rad usually is a slow process not a one day fine then the next running hot deal.

i would say bad temp sensor,
bad waterpump wouldnt run hot just plain overheat, thermostat could only be opening partially causing a run hot simptom

==> easy cruising. Neither interstate nor sitting in traffic. Just around town driving 30-50 mph.

==> What is CTS? Have vagcom. What module (engine I assume). In advanced, what groups should I check/log?

Read this:
Fan V7 is the fan on the passenger (right) side behind the radiator.
Fan V177 is the fan in front of the radiator near the center of the car

Already clear that something is wrong since V7 does NOT run (it is in parallel to V177, which IS running). Will get V7 running first.
Let's see what the coolant temperature is then.
